FEMA Disaster Operations Center

This LEED Certified facility comprises a four-story office building and associated light industrial space that accommodates the offices and emergency first call services of FEMA. Clad in precast concrete, blast-resistant glazing systems and native limestone, the facility includes 143,000 sf of office and 28,000 sf of light industrial/warehouse space. The office building design includes a raised floor for telecommunications, data, electrical cable management and high-quality displacement air delivery throughout. The mission-critical facility is designed to meet ISC Critical Level IV Security and Blast Requirements. Facility amenities include a secured amphitheater, roof garden, and a park-like setting, featuring a naturalistic water retention system utilizing bioswale technology. Housing more than 600 FEMA staff, the secured facility is the second largest FEMA facility in the country, after the agency's headquarters in Washington, D.C. The Disaster Operations Center staff respond to applications for assistance from disaster victims and provide helpline services and provide IT and logistical on-site support.
